Alfred Ray Burrell was a San Francisco based painter and printmaker who captured many landscapes and scenes in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Like many artists of his generation, Burrell adopted an Impressionist style and was interested in local atmospheric changes and light variations. His early twentieth century print of Yosemite captures the iconic image of Half Dome, using the soft focused, tonal effect of the aquatint process.
