Judy Chicago is an American feminist artist whose work examines the role of women in history and culture. During the early 1980s, Chicago designed dozens of images on the subject of birth and creation to be realized through needlework, a visually rich medium that had been ignored or trivialized by the fine arts community. A series of colored serigraphs were produced as part of the project.
