Emilie Sievert Weinberg
American,
(1882–1958)
Emilie Sievert Weinberg was a modernist painter of portraits and still lifes. After settling in San Francisco in 1913, she established a studio in her home at 1801 California Street. She later moved across the bay to Berkeley where she had further study with Hans Hofmann at UC (1930). Her final move was to nearby Piedmont where she remained until her death on Jan. 15, 1958. Her early works were watercolors, a medium she discarded in favor of oil during her later years. Her subjects include figures, landscapes, florals, and abstractions.
