Kari Marboe was an American ceramicist, sculpture artist, and self-proclaimed “ceramic detective” who explores “the history of people, objects, and experiences in order to create new narratives that intertwine with our present moment.” Marboe spent her childhood between New York City and Los Angeles, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she earned her BFA from California College of the Arts in 2008 and her MFA from the University of California, Berkeley in 2012. Marboe taught at Mills College and UC Berkeley, and served as Assistant Professor at California College of the Arts.
