Lee Mullican

American, (1919–1998)
Lee Mullican was a postwar California artist who was a co-founder of Dynaton, a group of artists based in 1950s San Francisco that included Wolfgang Paalen and Gordon Onslow Ford. Mullican moved to Los Angeles in 1951, where he would live and work for the remainder of his life. He is best known for his paintings and sculptures that feature abstract, repetitive linear patterns juxtaposed with spiritual signs, religious symbols, and totemic figures taken from prehistoric cultures.
