Jaye Evans attended Sacramento City College 1956-58, Art Center School, Los Angeles, 1959-60, San Francisco Art institute 1960-61 and continued his studies in Italy the following year. Jay received his B.F.A. at the California College of Arts and Crafts with distinction in both paintings and ceramics in 1965. He then received his M.F.A. at Mills College in 1968 where he studied with the late Antonio Prieto and was awarded the Ellen Eccles Fellowship in 1965-66-67-68, an award given to an artist and ceramicist of unusual promise.
