Ted Randall was an artist, educator, inventor, arts community organizer. His teaching career spanned 30 years, and under his guidance as chairman, the ceramics department at Alfred University became a renowned school of art and design. He was instrumental in the organization of several arts education groups and the founder of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. In addition he developed the Randall Potter’s Wheel and established a company to manufacture and market it which is still in operation. With all these accomplishments he still produced a body of sculptural work that exemplified the balance between function and sculpture.
