Born in Tokyo, Makoto Tashiro studied under Hamada Shoji from 1946 to 1950. In 1969, he built a kiln in Uji City, and received an Honorable Mention at the Japan Folk Art Museum Exhibition. He is a member of the Kokuga-kai Craft Club and creates mainly decorative paintings, slip-ware, and ash glaze.
